The Game of Life, also known simply as Life, is a board game originally created by Milton Bradley in 1860 as The Checkered Game of Life.The Game of Life was the first popular parlor game in the United States. The game simulates a person's life, from college to retirement, with jobs, marriages and possibly children along the way. Two to four or six players can play a game. Variations of the game are available for up to ten players.

The game board resembles a modified chessboard. The goal is to land on a "good" space and collect 100 points. Players can earn 50 points by reaching the "happy old age" in the upper right corner, as opposed to the "baby stage" at the beginning. Instead of gambling-related dice, players use a six-sided top called teetotum.
