Introduction to - Monument Valley 2
It's a game about the nature of the life cycle between mother and daughter, and how we carry on the legacy of those who came before us. In short, it's simply incredible, and subtly more complex than its predecessor. Now including brand new chapters, we hope you enjoy the new update.
There are some welcome differences and additions from the previous version. Monument Valley has a princess. But this time Lo is not the only playable character. She also has a small child by her side, her daughter. Some puzzles require a mother and daughter to work together to progress. Move them separately to the trigger button where they set each other off in the opening. Watch what they do for each other.
Despite the story's predictions, it's a bright abstract world, but Ro and her daughter can be used as a backdrop for puzzles simply by exchanging expressions, hugging and holding hands. Monument Valley 2 is longer than its predecessor, adding 14 chapters to the original's 10.
It has roughly the same structure as the original 2014 version. It's an isometric world of blocks, stairs, doors, and elevators. Touching the screen moves a character named Ro along a path until she encounters an obstacle. Artifacts with clear signals are manipulated to help her progress.
One puzzle leads to another, in which screws and cranes are manipulated to create paths, or the screen is turned to create a more advanced view. ro walks backwards, but if the screen is twisted, she magically corrects herself. The world indulges itself in physical whimsy. It's a pleasure, just like in the first game. Puzzles reveal solutions through trial, error, and a real sense of play. Find the balance between simplicity and complexity. Each level feels like you're expected to succeed in your own good time. There's no frustration, no sense of urgency or hassle.
