Piano Master on mobile - Piano Block 2

Piano Blocks 2, also known as Don't Step on White Blocks 2, is a mobile game developed by Cheetah Mobile, a Chinese software development company, that combines music and arcade gameplay, and was officially launched on 19 August 2015. Once launched, Piano Blocks quickly took over a hundred countries around the world by storm and quickly became the world's hottest music handheld game in 2015. It catapulted Cheetah Mobile, which started out as a tools and security product, to the top ranked game publisher on GooglePlay.

Starting from the perspective of realising players' musical dreams, Piano Blocks 2 features a large number of world-famous piano pieces (e.g. Turkish March, To Alice, Jasmine, Symphony of Fate, etc.) and the entire game incorporates the extremely challenging gameplay of arcade games. The player has to choose the piano piece and then start the game. The game screen is a path forward with four columns, each with random black squares that appear at an increasing speed, and the player challenges the game by clicking on the black squares. There are also long squares, sliders, accompaniment squares and successive squares depending on the piano piece. The game ends when you click on a white square or miss any of the squares. The game is simple in nature and the method of play remains the same from start to finish. However, it exercises the player's finger flexibility, coordination and reflexes.

So how did such a simple light game as Piano Blocks 2 manage to take the world by storm? Piano Blocks 2 has actually gone through the process of going from a hot wave to seawater after the tide has gone out. This is a common problem that many star apps inevitably suffer from - a moment of fire becomes a moment of mediocrity. It was at this critical life and death moment that the Piano Blocks team had to start brainstorming and looking around for inspiration. After watching many movies and listening to over 200 concerts, the team finally found their direction - everyone has their own musical dreams and making it simple for everyone to play a tune with Piano Block. The next step was to make several product iterations in terms of gameplay and control of product details, such as the selection of the score, how to transform the score into a game score, solving the problem of program adaptability for Android machines, and the solution to the problem of slow cards and crash rates. Then it was a matter of making tweak after tweak based on the player's experience of using the game, keeping up with weekly updates and quick error correction.

In this way, Piano Blocks 2 has achieved a place in the gaming landscape. According to the latest data released by global app analytics App Annie, Piano Blocks 2 was the most downloaded game product worldwide on both the App Store and Google Play platforms in December last year. To date, Piano Blocks 2 is ranked No.1 in the App Store in 109 countries overall and No.1 in 142 countries in the games chart; and No.1 in Google Play in 38 countries overall and No.1 in 85 countries in the games chart. Who would have thought that the person behind such a hit game had never made a game before Piano Blocks 2 either?
