The core gameplay of Bloons TD 6 is the same as the other games in the Bloons Tower Defence series, Bloons TD 6 is a tower defence game. Bloons TD 6 uses 3D graphics in its gameplay but plays mainly in a 2D perspective. In Bloons TD 6, the player creates a defence consisting of towers to prevent enemy balloons from reaching the exit. The balloons are generated in different waves, separated by 'wheels', and will travel along one or more designated paths to their intended exit. Each turn usually consists of a pre-determined group of balloons, which then generate balloons with special properties and behaviours that may have weaknesses in certain defences. Money is earned by blasting balloons, which can be used to purchase additional towers or upgrade existing towers to strengthen defences. Odyssey mode is a special game mode in which a set of towers and selected heroes are selected to journey to beat a predetermined number of different games in each stage and under a restricted set of rules within each stage.
